Nominate a Local Hero

The Calgary Stampede wants to hear about our local heroes. These heroes are people who have made a deep personal commitment to their community and have helped to create the wonderful places in which we live. They help their neighbours, they work hard, they make a difference.

The Calgary Stampede Western Legacy Awards are celebrating people who have made a difference in one of three categories:

  • The Western Legacy Award for Sustained Contribution: the winner will have exhibited extraordinary community support over time
  • The Western Legacy Award for Innovation: the winner will have created a single visionary project that speaks to our western values
  • The Western Legacy Award for Youth: the winner will be a youth (up to 25 years of age) who has demonstrated his or her commitment to making a difference.

Nomination forms are available online. The deadline for nominations is September 15, 2005.

After September 15, the Western Legacy Awards Committee will select ten individuals of outstanding merit in each category, and then request additional details on the nominees' contributions to western values. The Committee will make its final selection after considering the second submissions on behalf of the finalists.
