Bring the home team, home.
During 2005, Albertans had the opportunity to send a personalized invitation from the Premier to their friends and family to come home to the province for our centennial celebrations.
Albertans could submit names of their friends and family through free, postage-paid postcards or by submitting information online. In addition to the letter, invitees received a two-for-one admission pass to Alberta historic sites, interpretive centres and museums.
Over 30,000 invitations to visit Alberta were sent around the globe to 110 different countries including China, England and Saudi Arabia.
The program also included a contest, sponsored by TELUS, for a trip for up to four family members or friends to come to Alberta. Ray and Jean Schmitt from Calgary were the winners of the draw. With their invitation, the Schmitts invited friends from Salt Lake City, Utah and Savoury Island, British Columbia to attend the University of Alberta's Homecoming to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their graduation.
