For all Edmonton events there will be limited parking on site. The public is encouraged to use Edmonton City Transit. Several road closures will be in effect September 1st.

Capital E Centennial Breakfast

Come celebrate the landmarks of our province's past and a bright future to come! The City of Edmonton Capital E Centennial Breakfast will offer a free pancake breakfast, a variety of talented Albertan entertainment and special viewing of the Alberta Centennial Time Capsule amongst other presentations.

Time: 7:00 a.m. - 10:00: a.m.
Location: Winston Churchill Square

Alberta Legislature Grounds Kick Off Celebration

On September 1, Alberta's political centre will become Alberta's party central! The provincial legislature in Edmonton will be the heart of AlbertaSpirit and the scene of the official kick-off.

Time: 11:30 a.m – 1:30 p.m

  • Performance by The Emeralds and Royal Canadian Artillery band
  • Northlands Alberta food fair
  • Speeches, gift-giving
  • Free birthday cake
  • Theatrical re-enactment of 1905 Inauguration Celebration
  • Historical characters: Alexander Rutherford; Emily Murphy; Wop May and others

Getting there:
Parking in the legislature area will be extremely limited. Public transportation is recommended. Edmonton Transit Service will be increasing the frequency of service on the LRT and on bus routes 1, 8 and 9 to help people get to and from the celebrations. There will also be detours on some routes. Limited public parking will be available at Telus Field for a fee.

AlbertaSpirit - The Party of the Century Event

There is something for everyone in this family affair as Alberta's birthday gets into full swing. An evening of great entertainment will finish with a spectacular fireworks display.

Time: 5:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

  • The Provincial Legislature will be the headquarters of the province-wide broadcast
  • Entertainment includes: The Emeralds, Barrage, Adam Gregory, Bobby Curtola, the Kupalo Dancers and the Shumka Dancers
  • Children’s area with face painters; play area; magic show; balloons; exhibits and displays
    Celebrate Alberta Team will be on site
  • Alberta Centennial Time Capsule
  • Best viewing of the fireworks is the north side of the Legislature grounds

Jubilee Auditorium Gala Performance Celebration

Reception  6:30 p.m.
Pre-show 7:30pm, live gala starts at 8:00pm
Host: Paul, Mennier, Jennifer Martin (citytv)

Paul Brandt is headlining along with performances by musical artists such as k.d. lang, Ian Tyson and a 30-piece jazz band and gospel choir, under the direction of Edmonton-born composer-arranger George Blondheim.
